    Surface Pro 3 deals here!

I did finally get all the appropriate discounts but it took A LOT of work! Many many calls until MS finally assigned someone to shepherd the pricing issue.

Surface Pro 3 experience by SP2 owners

Sold the SP2 in anticipation of the SP3. Went back to the Macbook Air during that time. If the SP3 came with Apple OSX I'd switch in a heartbeat. That being said, the SP3 is a huge improvement over the SP2, IMO. The SP2 was too "bulky" for me and I found myself not carrying it around the office...

    External Monitor Screen Flicker

Spoke too soon... screen flicker is back with a vengeance. I'm now able to replicate it on the SP3 screen without an external monitor attached. I still think it has something to do with the USB connection. I had two SP3's on which I was able to replicate the screen flicker (returned one over the...

How do you feel about the size/portability of SP3 versus your (former) SP2 ?

Just the opposite. The SP3 is substantially more portable than the SP2. The SP3 is thinner and carries the weight differently than the SP2. Also the larger size makes taking notes easier, not just due to the writing surface area but the physical size of the SP3. I can prop it on one knee (leg...

    Any Happy SP3 users?

For me it's the SP3 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. The Note 3 is my "always on me" book reader, note taker, phone, web terminal.... etc. Had three tables full of people watching the US vs Germany World Cup match on the Note 3. Pretty funny but there was no room inside the bar and we were able...

    Don't laugh

A large ziplock bag will do the same thing for a LOT less money. Use one all the time in the hot tub.

    Any Happy SP3 users?

Now that I've figured out the weird USB mice interactions (both Microsoft branded mice) that caused the external monitor flicker, I'm a pretty happy camper. Nirvana for me has always been the ability to have ONE device in a very small backpack, replacing a paper notebook...

    Apple USB adapter install

For those of you who've switched from a Macbook and have the Apple USB adapter.... good news, you can install it to work with the SP3. From what I can tell, it WILL NOT install automatically. Here are the instructions I found: Ninja Monki: Getting your Apple USB Ethernet Adapter to work on...

    External Monitor Screen Flicker

My thoughts exactly but that's why they pay me the big bucks to figure out crazy sh!t in corporate environments :p Went to the Microsoft Store and the tech there was less than useless. Nice guy but... well he was a nice guy (should probably go next door and sell shoes or something). 24...

    External Monitor Screen Flicker

So I think I know what is causing the screen flicker. It's not the screen connection but the USB mouse connection, both a wired Microsoft mouse and a USB Wireless Microsoft Explorer mouse. Both cause both cursor flicker and screen flicker. Both mice work fine with the SP3 display when no...

    External Monitor Screen Flicker

There does not appear to be a "high performance" setting. The only setting offered is "balanced'. Within the "balanced" plan, there are no options available to increase video performance. Also, I'm not running dual monitors yet still get the flicker. I'm only using the Apple LED Cinema display...

    External Monitor Screen Flicker

Actually that totally helps me as I now know others can use the 27" Apple LED Cinema display without the screen flicker.... so thanks for the info. I have to return the other SP3 to the Microsoft Store (long story). So we'll see if they have a monitor that I can plug into to test the...

    External Monitor Screen Flicker

thanks for the info... however the monitor connector worked just fine with the Surface Pro 2. As with the SP3 the connector is long enough that when fully seated there is still a gap large enough to fit the edge of a credit card. There is no interference between the connector shield and the side...

Lock-ups, spontaneous restarts and other glitches

Agreed. Been in the software biz for over 20 years... and this reeks of "get this out the door now!!" Hopefully it will settle down but my fuse is REALLY short with hardware/software combinations these days... must be getting older. I've left the phase of troubleshooting being something cool to...

    Another issue - Mouse

and those would be?.... Does anyone have a link? The 27" Apple LED cinema display has flicker issues (already explored changing the refresh rate and reloading the drivers). I've tried two mice, one bluetooth and the other wired USB (both Microsoft mice) and both have cursor "issues" from time...

    External Monitor Screen Flicker

Well that didn't work..... had to unplug and re-plug it in. I hate to say it but I'm moving into the "return this thing to Microsoft" and go back to the Mac. It's supposed to be a tool, not a project. Big difference.

    External Monitor Screen Flicker

The refresh rate was at 59Hz so I set it to 60Hz. The monitor went berserk with even the internal monitor speakers emitting a scratching sound. Reverted back to 59Hz, no joy. Back to 60Hz... still going wild. Unplug monitor then replug in... better. Apply 60Hz again, save changes and it seems...

    External Monitor Screen Flicker

Called MS Support and they had me uninstall the drivers, reboot then hook up the monitor (which re-installed the driver). If it does flicker it's hardly noticeable if at all. So I think it's fixed (hopefully).

    External Monitor Screen Flicker

Brand new Surface Pro 3 connecting to Apple MC007LL/A 27 inch LED Cinema Display which has a MiniDisplay Port connector. There is an intermittent screen flicker (no particular apps running). From time to time the screen goes black for about a second, then comes back. The resolution is 2560 x...

    This has to go back...

My first question would be "did you call MS Support"? What was their response? Unless you've given MS the opportunity to solve your problem directly (I called about a wi-fi issue), then you're just bitching. Apologies in advance if you have in fact called them and they had no solution to your...
