I think it may be. I've had 5 Surface 2s and had no issues getting the card in or out. Based on my experience with this device, there are some hardware issues so I wouldn't be surprised if you are dealing with one yourself. A good way to test would be to go to a store and check on a display unit.

This just happened to me on my first generation Surface. it all of a sudden went black, the haptic response is still there, but it won't turn on. I bet this is more of an 8.1 issues than a hardware problem.

There is a real issue here. This past week, I've shut the type cover on my surface, went to the bed, and the next morning the battery icon showed that the batter charge had fallen by 25-30%. Something is wrong... I will point out that I never had this issue on 8.1 Preview.
