I've had SP3 and now SP4. Both with i5/4/128. I've had no issues with both machines with anything I threw at them.
Since you are going to "sell" this machine right after the trip, why not buy a used one from Craigslist? I say CL since that way you can check out the machine before buying. Also...
Continuing issue with slow to connect wifi with my SP4.
Yesterday, I woke up my SP4 from hibernate and the wifi was not connecting even after couple of minutes. I had to disconnect and re-connect several times before it finally connected.
This is really annoying issue and I'm at a loss as to...
I actually use it. It is sensitive to light condition but you can "train" it in different conditions like in a dark room.
After a proper train, it works flawlessly. It comes in handy when you use SP4 as a tablet since it's quicker than trying to type in a pin or PW on the virtual keyboard.
Just a suggestion to anyone who wants to get a better battery life AND make your SP3/SP4 run much cooler so the fan does not kick in.
You can limit the max CPU to something like 80% (I've messed around and 80% seems perfect) so the turbo does not kick in. This will prolong your battery life and...
My wifi can take several seconds (up to 10-15 or longer) to connect after I boot up or restart. I want to launch Edge browser and look for something but often have to wait for the wifi to connect and it is annoying.
Anyone else have this issue or have a suggestion as to how I can fix this? My...
Thanks for that information.
I wish there was a way to either disable it or extend the time before it hibernates. Resuming from hibernate is fast so it's no big deal but users should be able to disable it if they wish.
What is adaptive hibernation?
Every time I put my SP4 to sleep, it "dozes" to hibernate after 30-40 minutes and when I run the sleepstudy, it says it "Dozed to hibernate since it predicted the user to be away..."
I have it never to hibernate under the power settings but I guess this "adaptive...
I've recently upgraded to SP4 from SP3. Got a good deal on SP4 and sold SP3 so it was a no brainer for me.
I've taken someone's advice and reduced my max CPU to 80%. The purpose was to get better battery life and make SP4 virtually fan-less.
After making the change, the fan NEVER kicks in no...
If fan noise and heat are your main complaints, try reducing the max cpu %. I personally wouldn't upgrade to sp4 just for those reasons.
You can get more info here: How to make the i5/i7 SP4 fanless
I had the issue and resolved it by installing latest Intel HD graphics driver. Of course, since then the new Windows update has updated that driver to whatever is the latest.
Haven't had any issue lately.
Nice deal going on for SP4 type cover. Just ordered my fingerprint reader version.
All Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Type Covers (Black, Red, Blue, Bright Blue, Teal) on sale for $103.99 + Free Shipping (or $127.99 + FS, w/fingerprint reader)
Wait a minute. So the SP4 typecover is not the same size as SP4 type cover?!
And so it doesn't cover entire screen when attached?
I was all set to buy one so someone please let me know.
Thanks.
WTH? MS still can't push out a proper update without creating so many NEW issues?
Luckily I haven't used my SP3 for couple of weeks now so no updates installed for me. I guess I'll wait for the fix for the update. Crazy!
First of all, sorry to hear you're having such bad luck with your SP3. I've had some issues with mine as well but not to your extend.
I'm sure some of the more experienced members will chime in and help you but most likely they will need additional information.
What makes your SP3 so hot...
