This is not true. I have been able to easily connect Surface Mail app to our Exchange 2010 sever. It uses Active Sync and forces a password, because that is the policy we have set on our Exchange servers, just like it did for my old iPad.

I too miss OneNote, and the ability to write with a real pen, not something with a 1/4 inch soft bulb on the end. Reminds me of the mechanical penciled we had in first grade. I so miss certain aspects from my Windows tablets before I switched to iPad.
Had various Windows tablets for years. Jumped to iPads because of instant on (including on the network), long battery life. Being light was a bonus. Ordered a Surface because I really, REALLY missed OneNote.
Too funny. The ticket is printed with white letters on a blue background...wasn't that the color combination back in the crash screen days of earlier versions of Windows?

Before buying colors outside of black you might want to see it they can be cleaned. Had a white keyboard once and I was always cleaning it because of finger oil/dirt, etc.

The problem is the calendar function going back to Exchange is not complete. Want to schedule a group meeting and see other's schedules? Want to see available rooms? I would bet you are SOL:-(
Evertith has the explaination exactly right. And it is not simple to port ever application to the ARM (RT) platform. If it was Microsoft would have included Outlook in their Office applications for the RT. they did not.
