    SP3 Cursor/TouchScreen Issue

I've occasionally had this problem, too, usually after long periods of running. It's in the same spot on the screen. For whatever reason, it rarely happens now. In addition, rebooting has always made it go away. Here's a link that describes a fix...

Solved So Happy, Now So Depressed (not so much any more)

You might try saving to MS-Word 97-2003 format (.doc). I tried that, and LibreOffice can read the inking fine (it won't if I use the docx format). I don't have a Mac to try. Also, LibreOffice itself might be another option for your Mac students if you use the .doc format..

    The student/productivity thread

Back to students. Here are some useful Reddit links I've found: http://www.reddit.com/r/OneNote/comments/1qvg4q/how_i_use_onenote_to_manage_my_studies_in_college/ http://www.reddit.com/r/Surface/comments/294rkt/surface_and_onenote_for_biology/cihi37o...

    Mini display port adaptors

I've got the Apple mini DP to dual-link DVI adapter, and it works with my Yamakasi 30-in monitor at 2500x1600.

    The student/productivity thread

I'm wrestling with several options for reviewing documents. Here's what I've found so far: A) MS-Word docs and track changes -- I normally would do that when my SP3 is connected to an external monitor, so space isn't an issue. Zoomed out to see comments on the side is too small for my eyes, but...

    The student/productivity thread

Those aren't my videos, but I do like them. I teach short courses, and share the whole notebook. Because they are short courses, I don't have much opportunity for peer exchange of information. I'm going to do some online courses that will be spread over several weeks, and I plan to update my...

    The student/productivity thread

For instructors, here is an interesting series of videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL745FCBBC680AC7E3 They cover use of Onenote, Camtasia, making screencasts, and using Onenote in class.

Camtasia records audio in two tracks: (1) System audio -- examples are beeps and audio from movies you show (2) External audio -- the SP's built-in mic or a USB mic (recommended) I plan to record the entire class. I haven't decided what to actually distribute, yet. It'll probably vary by class.

In Onenote, File | Share | Get a Sharing Link | View Link should work. You're right on syncing speed. I was also thinking of using the feature for WebEx style presentations where that'd be more of an issue. But for classroom use, it shouldn't. If it was a meeting or discussion group where it...

    SP3 Dock vs Plugable UD-3900

An advantage with a universal is that I can hide it under my desk and hide some of the cabling with it (at the expense of having more connectors to attach to the SP3).

    SP3 Dock vs Plugable UD-3900

My main concern with the dock is the angle for writing. Unless I kludge up a stand, I doubt that the angle will work for me. I'll probably wait for dock reviews.

Regarding use to deliver lectures (ManUnited's post), that's the reason I bought my SP3. I will try it live next week for the first time. I also plan to record lectures. Here's my plan: * Use an Actiontec ScreenBeam wireless display. It works well with the SP3 after the firmware is upgraded...

Can i change how long SP3 stays in Connected Standby

Great explanation, Jeff. As far as problem win32 apps, I've had problems with: * Dropbox - desktop version - pausing synching helps

So...has the SP3 replaced your laptop?

Not for me, yet, mainly because my main work laptop has 600 GB of files and data. If I can separate that into primary and secondary data, I probably could.

New sp3 owner (pluses and minuses given)

Liking it very much. I really like OneNote (full version) and annotating on PPT's. The i5 is faster than I expected. Pluses: - PortableApps work great - Bittorrent sync works great - Camtasia (screencasts) works great - VistaSwitcher works great as an alt-tab replacement - external monitor...
