    Traveling with the SP3

You can't rely on a consistent TSA policy with the Surface Pro 3. I'm a frequent traveler and I have experience every iteration of this policy. Agents have told me to take it out, to leave it in... and, just today, the pre-screening agent told me to leave it in. Only to have the screening agent...

    touch cover peeling at seam

It really does show much the media smells blood when they think of Microsoft. I cannot imagine Microsoft having a better response on this issue-- they admitted there was a problem, unlike Apple who would have stonewalled. They exchanged the covers and the reps always assured me if it happens...

    who bought the extended warranty?

I got it. The way my phones look, I am sure I will use it. I will scratch it eventually, or drop it. FWIW, a rep in the store told me it covers the touch cover, but not the one who sold it to me. (And the way these touch covers are going, I could probably exchange mine every 25 days anyway...

    Well, I returned it!

For me, Office 365 works great on Surface. What is this talk of not supporting Office 365? I am an Office 365 user. The following features work fine on Surface for me: * Office 365 mail syncs to mail app * Office 365 works with Lync app * Word, Excel, Powerpoint open and save files to...

    Watching Movies on Surface

I don't know if the points transition is complete, but the Xbox Video app is now quoting prices in real currency. As an aside, $20 for a DRM movie with no Blu-Ray extras, and there was no physical distribution, no manufacturing to worry about? Yeah I don't think so. Hello USENET?

how do I transfer my PC based digital copies to my surface

Ah, I see. I rarely buy movies on disc and never pay attention to the digital copies, so I didn't realize they included both. The DRM issue isn't as cut and dry as you might think. It's not really a simple dumb omission as a complicated story of tech history and old Microsoft technology ("old"...

    Unexpected muting issue.

Just exchanged my Surface and have the random muting issue on the new one too! (The sound distortion issue is out there--elsewhere on this forum. Happens when Surface plays notifications while asleep, to some people at least.)

    work-around for missing apps

MetroTwit and Tweetro are both great apps. There is also Rowi for twitter, which is great on Windows Phone but not so great on Windows 8.

    Close Apps

The swipe-down gesture does actually close the app. It may take a moment for it to disappear from task manager. You might continue to see some apps in Task Manager even when they're closed if they are set to run in the background (they ask for permission), or system apps, etc.

how do I transfer my PC based digital copies to my surface

Steve-- does the iPad itself really play these files? You mentioned that iTunes plays them, but obviously support for a codec/drm on OS X iTunes is a different matter altogether from an iPad being able to play them. I'm just curious about this-- support for DRM WMV on an iPad, that would be a...

    Micro SD Support on RT???

I had no trouble at all with the class 10 sandisk 64gb card I got. Also, rather just adding the mapped SD folders to the libraries, I MOVED the entire main documents, videos, pictures, and downloads special folders into the mapped SD folder. This means that all my media will be stored on the SD...

    touch cover peeling at seam

Exchanged my touch cover and Surface today at the MS store. Gotta say, it was super easy. Took two seconds. The reps said they hadn't seen any touch covers come back like that but they had seen one other unit with the logo coming off. Guess there must be some manufacturing variance. Fortunately...

More disappointing each day. Might return surface and get iPad

A problem with an enthusiast forum is that every post which is generally negative on the subject is gong to be called trolling. (Because, well, there are actually a lot of trolls out there.) At the same time, it's natural after buying a $500 device with high expectations to get down and negative...

    Sound Dock

I don't see this in the cards... unless Surface ramps up sales volume a LOT. One issue of course is the location on the charging port, on the side, so there is no option for a landscape dock connector for power. I am planning on just buying a second charger and using it with a generic tablet...
