Isn't "Device Encryption" under Win 8.1 the same thing as bitlocker but without any flexibility and limited to the OS drive? And yes when I installed 8.1 Pro, it changed from being Device Encryption to BitLocker.

Thanks guys. Turns out I was able to use my Windows 8 Pro key to add new features to my Surface 3 so now I have BitLocker enabled on my memory card too.

I can now confirm I am running Windows 8.1 Pro on my Surface 3 and the upgrade key from Windows 8 Pro retail worked (i.e. the boxes which they sold for like $40 when Windows 8 launched).

Are you saying you have two screens or three screens active in extended desktop mode? I'd imagine you might be able to get three through use of Displaylink (which is what Lenovo use in their docking stations*). * not sure if it's used in all of them or not, but at least in my Lenovo USB...
