Doesn't MS make the Xbox? The Surface isn't their first foray into the hardware realm. Of all of the win8 products available, the SP was my top choice. I guarantee we will see a true SP 2 either later this year or very early next year.

I guess I sounded like an ass in my last post and I apologize for that. Different strokes for different folks. I needed to replace a laptop and for me the SP was my best option.

Exactly. I'm sure some RT users are happy with their purchase, but honestly, I don't see the appeal considering what you get for the money when you buy the SP.

Ummmm since the SP is a fully functional windows computer, you can play just about any PC game on it. I've been playing Portal 1 and 2 on it lately, They run very smoothly.

Don't forget to look at the helix. I almost grabbed one of those instead of the SP. The SP won due to it's smaller footprint.

I use a cintiq 21ux as my main monitor and have a 24" second monitor hooked up to my desktop. I doubt the SP would drive them both with any amount of speed. I use my SP to do my schoolwork while hanging out upstairs with the mrs. I freaking love this thing. I've been waiting for a tablet...

This is exactly the same experience I've had. The type cover is GREAT for typing, buy the trackpad sucks. I also bought a wedge mouse and I am much happier. I hope someone else starts making these covers.

I would've liked removable batteries to deal with the 4-5 hour limit on each. At least for SP version 1; I'm certain the low battery time will be rectified in SP2.

The Helix was my second choice too.

My Ipad 3 has the same surface as my SP and I have been BRUTAL on the Ipad. No scratches whatsoever after 14 months of constant use and I have no desire to mess with protective screens on either device.
