    On-screen Keyboard

What I see when I start my Surface 2 is the accessibility on-screen keyboard, even when I switch it off in the accessibility settings. It is not a big deal as I close it off every time I start S2, but I don't understand why it comes up as a default every time.

    On-screen Keyboard

Yes, the on-screen keyboard popup windows is displayed when I login after a starting Surface 2, I do not run anything or set it up to be displayed. I have the type (not touch) keyboard and it is permanently attached and works just fine. Maybe a driver issue? or some error related to the keyboard?

    On-screen Keyboard

I know this might be a silly question but lately I have been getting the On-screen keyboard coming out automatically whenever I start my Surface 2. Tried to find where I can switch it off but was unsuccessful. I have the Type keyboard always attached to the Surface 2.:confused::confused:

Help wanted: Finding, buying and connecting a wireless printer to a Surface RT 8.1

Thanks for the link. You are right I found the HP 276DW is partially supported but not fully compatible. I guess I can live with that if at least I can print directly from Surface 2. Is this something that needs HP to apply for full compatibility or is it on the operating system side (Microsoft)?

Help wanted: Finding, buying and connecting a wireless printer to a Surface RT 8.1

Excellent information Rallicat. Is there a similar list for HP MFP inkjet printers compatibility with Surafce 2 (Windows 8.1 RT)? I am considering to replace my current Lexmark inkjet printer as it does not support Windows RT with HP Officejet Pro 276DW or HP Officejet Pro 8600 plus. I tried...

My good/bad experiences with the Surface / wont be getting Surface 3

I think Surface 2 is a better deal overall with a reasonable price point and MS office is included. I am quite happy with it, for real work on Windows OS I prefer using my laptop and Windows 7.

Cant get skydrive app to work

I just assumed the surface 2 has some issues with the router firewall so I thought to chose this option. In the router firewall settings it mentions the following: "The DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) option lets you set a single computer on your network outside of the router. If you have a computer...

Cant get skydrive app to work

You are right, I guess I am not a tech savvy when it comes to setting routers and networks. When I returned the original router back I can access the web pages with my laptop but the Surface 2 is limited to some web pages and not all, any web page that needs user credentials (login) do not work...

Cant get skydrive app to work

Thanks very much hotphil for your suggestion. I determined that this was the problem after I changed the router and tried a different one. The root cause was a firewall application (IoBit) that I installed last week on my laptop that seems to have cause this issue, although my laptop worked...

Cant get skydrive app to work

After calling Microsoft support today I discovered that Surface 2 can access some web pages and not others. The network connection shows "Connected" and I can surface the web except any web site that has account information or user profile stored (e.g. Amazon or eBay). I was advised to change my...

Cant get skydrive app to work

I have the same problem, I have not used my surface 2 for over a week and when I started it today I found that I don't have new emails in my inbox and no access to the SkyDrive storage. I got a message that I need to check my Microsoft loggin account ??? When I try to do that my MS account page...

    Compatible Printers

Tried several Lexmark drivers that would work with my Lexmark X7675 WiFi printer with no success. I can see the printer on the home network through Surface 2 but when I try to add it I get a message that the printer driver cannot run on the current Windows version (8.1 RT). It seems it is time...

    Compatible Printers

Thank you Frank for the detailed illustration. I will try your method to add my Lexmark X7675 to my Surafce 2 devices, Windows 8.1 RT does currently have the driver for this printer model so I will try to use something close to it.

I am having the same problem printing from my Surface 2 to my wireless printer (Lexmark X7675). I tried printing through the wireless homegroup network and I get an error message that the printer does not work with this version of Windows RT.

Thanks for the tip regarding the static IP address setting. What I am planning to do is to test the router connectivity while I am still here in Alberta, CA before I travel to get acquainted with the router settings. I have the Surface 2 alreday connected to my home network without any issue...

    Modem and Wireless Router

What do you think about D-Link DIR505 portable router? It seems to have nice reviews and sell for less than $30 at BB. It is cheaper than MS USB adapter and can be used with a 100-240V power supply. I am sure I can manage to set this one up :nerd:

    Modem and Wireless Router

Thank you everyone for your recommendations. I have not used a travel router to connect to in a hotel room before but I know how to setup my home network. I will probable go for the Microsoft USB adapter as it is a more pratical solution and esier to carry when travelling.
