OP should just look at the ThinkPad Yoga. It's black, has a standard keyboard. Uses Wacom for its digitizer so you may like it better. Similar features/specs to the SP3. ThinkPad line has been know for their "though" build quality ( could be closer to the premium feel you are looking for...

I actually was thinking about the Dock today. My wish list is a Dedicated GPU built into the dock and a maybe a cooling fan. Microsoft could pull this off using their high speed bus connection for the dock. I would be willing to pay about 350$ for it. :)

People complaining about the cost of the SP3 still blows my mind. The sony vaio Z which was the king of ultra books was around 1800$. Most vendors Dell, HP, Samsung selling ultrabooks with 4k displays start at around 1100-1200$. The SP3 could be a little cheaper yes...but you have understand...

+1 for Drawboard PDF. It opened my pdfs just fine and it has many good features. Also Pen/Touch friendly which is nice.

That's weird. I can see how annoying that can be in the middle of the presentation. I hate when things like that mess with my flow. Sounds like an Adobe thing to me....but i could be wrong. Maybe your SP3 wanted to play a game instead and was being stubborn:)

I wish the OP will add more details to the situation. What was the SP3 connected to. What software was open. Sometimes large PDFs can cause freeze due to adobe not the SP3. Also some software don't work well with network stored files. Did he boot from scratch or did he resume from hibernation...

I just tested this and it worked with my Asus external DVD drive. I had to do this close to the outlet. You need to a usb extention cable to reach the SP3's power brick. In a Jam you can just sit close to the power bring and connect everything.

I know the external dvd drives need 2 usb ports to power it. what about using the main connect to the SP3 and connecting the second connection to the charger ? Will that work?

gmt I have the 256 SP3. My plan to keep my HD at clean as possible. Things like music, pictures, documents etc I plan on storing on One drive google or the micro SD. congrats on the SP3!
