I didn't know that the SP3 was water cooled.

I'm surprised they didn't use a peltier cooling setup, but that would create a definite hotspot where the radiator end was......

cheap 128GB mSD cards on ebay

I have two Sandisk 128gb microsd cards, both class 10, the first one I bought had issues corrupting files written to it. Bought the second one to replace it, and issues disappeared. Apparently even cards from the same manufacturer can work differently.

    Solved I need your help

Nope, doesn't stay on my SP1 either. I seem to remember it did at one time, but a windows update killed it, I think.... Edit: I changed the setting, and to my amazement, the taskbar DID become persistant after a reboot. Changed it back, and taskbar was no more on Start screen!!!!!!!

    Program installation from CD

I got tired of swapping cd's to install one of my programs, so I created one dual-layer 8.7 gb data dvd with all the files from 6 install cd's, and it allows me to install from a usb DVD drive with no swaps, never tried to put them on a flash drive though.

    102%... battery super-charged...

Ditto, have seen 102% in my battery report too, I am more interested in the full capacity VS the design capacity in the last part of the report.

    Surface Pro - 0% battery

Anyone happen to pull this stunt? I was using my SP1 on battery this weekend, just to run it down and cycle it. Try to do it occasionally, and I fell asleep. Woke up and assumed I had shut it down, because the screen was black, and type cover didn't light when I passed my hand over it. Went to...

Preventing onscreen keyboard in desktop mode?

I have the onscreen keyboard 'button' on in the notification area of the taskbar, and I've never had the onscreen popup if the typecover is attached on my SP1. Even in tablet use, I have to touch the 'button' with the pen to get the onscreen keyboard to popup......

    Windows 8.1 forum...

Just Bing Windows 8.1 forums, you'll find tons of them. I guess it's up to you to decide which is your favorite. One of my favorites is Microsoft's Community Forums.

Comparison of 4 portable DVD drives using Surface Pro 2, 3, 4, Surface Book

I have the Samsung portable DVD burner in the review. I didn't buy it specifically for my SP1, I bought it for my Android tablet, has AV mode to allow reading media dvd's natively in Andoid 4. It works wonderfully with the Surface, use Nero Express to burn, and Blazedvd free to watch DVD movies...

    Quick Anti-virus and Pen Question

I've been happy with Windows defender and a weekly scan with malwarebytes on my SP1. But... If anything turns up on my malwarebytes scan, EVER, I will install Avast, been using it successfully on 5 other pc's, and have never gotten bit....

Looks like Microsoft is going all in with Best Buy

Always seemed to me that Microsoft AND Apple were only interested in opening their own stores in major cities, thus losing potential sales in rural areas. Microsoft is smart, even if you don't buy a Surface, having a Microsoft presence in stores like BB, overwhelms Apple, because every other PC...

In need of a USB Recovery for Surface Pro

I believe it's only for the SP1, and I'm sure it's Windows 8, not 8.1. Using it will reinstall the original recovery, but you'll have to do all the updates, and 8.1 update, and the 8.1 second major update. Lots of work. Thank goodness for system images, and the repair/recovery dvd I made......

    Very, very surprised...

I guess we're lucky here in Nebraska, our Best Buys are clean, organized, and have relatively well informed sales associates. I myself find it enjoyable to interact with their staff, we usually BOTH learn something in the exchange.

    Very, very surprised...

I only bought AA's and AAA's that day, spent $12 instead of $200, but they're not batteries to charge my SP1. I have considered buying a car charger, if I could find one specifically designed for the Surface's. But, again, my usage is mostly indoors with a plug in handy.

    Restore i5 SP3 image onto i7 SP3

True, it might work, but somewhere down the road, it might jump up and bite you, like the fact that the bios software key doen't match the key for the restored image. I personally have never tried to restore an image to a totally different computer, but have had headaches by even restoring to...
