Just using Windows Defender since day 1 on my SP1, Have the free version of Malwarebyes installed, and run a scan with it each week before doing a system image backup, never had a problem. Use Avast on my other PC's, and it doesn't slow them down that I've noticed.....

If you have Onedrive installed, and active, it's used to store your Onenote notebook. As long as you have Ondrive set to be available offline, you notes should be saved locally. and the onedrive app will allow you to sync at will, whenever you have internet access, copying your notes to the cloud.

Had the same on my SP1 when I use it with kickstand, typecover and bluetooth mouse. I think its static discharge bleeding out to the earphones. If I'm using it as a tablet in my hands, never have the problem, likewise if it's docked with power connected. I think it just needs to bleed static...
