Yeah. I was kind of hoping maybe it only happened when connected to power. Then it might possibly be a result of a faulty power supply and you could try exchanging that only, assuming that you don't have a brick and mortar store nearby.

What does Facebook and games have to do with anything?

Do you get that noise when the machine is connected to the power adapter? unplugged or both?

I am thinking of this one myself, not cheap, but cheap ones make me nervous when connected to an expensive device, such as this.

I have been enjoying Opera on the Surface Pro. The battery saver feature seems to provide decent battery life when unplugged. Speed seems good. It also has it's own ad-blocking, which seems to be adequate and work well with it. I haven't experienced any touch-screen scrolling issues to date.

I am new to the Surface Universe as well, having only had mine a couple of weeks, but I haven't had any of the oddities with the power switch as described by the OP. Mine works with a very light click each time. Being how the unit is new, I would probably seek an exchange.
