    Windows 8.1 / OneDrive help

I spent pretty much all day working on this issue. Microsoft has still been of no help, although supposedly a level 2 tech is going to call me on Monday. Here's some new information that I find really interesting. One can take a MS Office file, rename it to have a .zip extension, and then use...

    Windows 8.1 / OneDrive help

Does anyone know a good way to get assistance on a Windows 8.1 problem that manifests itself with OneDrive? I've tried the official Microsoft support channels and wasted well over 10 hours on multiple chats and remote desktop sessions without any real help. I can find all over the web various...

    i7 Classroom use experiences

Well, I thought I had my file syncing problem fixed, but I don't. Microsoft support wasted (literally) 3 hours of my time this morning and also caused a problem on my home machine that will take me a few days to clean up. Not a way to instill loyalty. I think I'm going to discontinue working...

    i7 Classroom use experiences

Re: the i7 being overpowered, I mainly chose the i7 because of the larger internal storage. Processor capability was secondary. The performance is so much faster than the Lenovo X10 tablet it replaced, I'm happy. I have seen it get toasty, but only had notable heat issues when described...

    i7 Classroom use experiences

I bought an SP3 i7 with the plan to use it to teach my university classes. After 2 days I'm pleased to report many good things and a couple of big frustrations. Inking works great. I mainly ink on mostly blank PowerPoint slides and that has worked flawlessly. Connecting to the projector using...

    OneDrive frustrations

Hi Jeff, Actually when I purchased Office 365 it clearly talks about the included item being OneDrive, not OneDrive for Business. When I log in to manage my account, etc. all of these references OneDrive as well. I think the confusion comes from the business versions of Office 365 come with...

    OneDrive frustrations

While waiting for my SurfacePro 3 i7 to come in, I starting reading these forums and learned about OneDrive. I wound up buying Office 365 just to get the 1 TB of OneDrive space that comes with it. I think OneDrive holds great promise, but if there is a more frustrating piece of software out...

    Cord Management

I like this. My friend has something similar to this. Given that all I have is the SP cord setup, a mouse, and a USB 3/Ethernet dongle, I think it would be overkill for my needs.

    Cord Management

This may be among the most trivial questions asked on this forum: does anyone have any tips on how to coil/wrap/whatever the power cord and brick for compact transport in a bag/pouch? I've always had Velcro straps on cords like this, and I find that without that, the cord uncoils in the pouch...

Solved HELP: New Surface Pro 3 issue (Replaced SP3)

How does one get a 2 year policy for $150? When I visit that site it tells me that a 1 year policy is $150, and I don't see a 2 year option. Edited to add...OK, I think that you mean that it extends the warranty to 2 years by buying 1. Thanks.

    Perfect! Thanks.

    Remote Desktop

I'm quite sure that sometime over the past 2 weeks I read a thread on here where people were talking about a remote desktop app or application that allowed better control over the resolution of the display. I searched for quite some time yesterday and count not find that thread anywhere. Does...

    OFFICIAL I Now Have a Surface Pro 3 i7

Have my i7. I can tell that my biggest issue is going to be figuring out to use Windows 8. And the trackpad as well. (Haven't yet figured out how to right click with it.) I bought a book. Guess I'll have to read it to be able to get the most out of this. Love the i7, though.

    i7 appears to be shipping

I get the UPS emails since I signed up for UPS My Choice. (Anytime a package is sent to my address via UPS I automatically am notified when it ships and when it is the day before delivery. It's a free service I signed up for a few months ago, and I love it.)

    i7 appears to be shipping

I received a tracking number from MS online store. Couldn't tell arrival from that number because tracking system said hadn't actually shipped. Received an email from UPS that said I should have it Friday 10:15-2:15.

    One Note and Dropbox Questions

Thanks to all here for the OneDrive recommendations. After buying Office 365 on Saturday afternoon, I copied the contents of my Dropbox folder to my OneDrive folder to start the uploading process. As of this morning it has transferred about 5 GB. Only 75 GB left to go. Seems like this might...

    One Note and Dropbox Questions

I think this may wind up being my biggest point of confusion with my soon-to-arrive SP3. I've avoided Windows 8, and the separation between different versions of the same application residing on the same computer seems rather confusing. So, assume I'm going to install Office 365 on the SP3 (or...

    One Note and Dropbox Questions

After doing some more reading, I think I've found a good solution. Even though I can get Office 2013 free through my employer, I qualify to buy Office 365 University. The price for this is $80 for 4 years. This provides 1 TB of cloud storage. So, even if I don't use Office 365, it's cheaper...

    One Note and Dropbox Questions

Hi Kif, Thanks for the link. I'll check that out. For you and any others, I'm wondering about the quote above. My work license is managed via a keyserver. When I install Office 2013 I put in the Microsoft generic key for volume licensing. That then triggers Office to go out and hit our...

    One Note and Dropbox Questions

Hi sharpcolorado, Thanks for the OneDrive recommendation. It looks really interesting. I suppose one thing that makes me hesitate a bit is the idea of having to move all that data from one service to the other. That's not a big thing, though. I'm also trying to decide how much I'll miss...
