    Inappropriate ads being served

Generally I do, but I am now using Edge so am at the mercy of what Microsoft provides. Still seems like a surprising suggestion from the admins of the site!

    Inappropriate ads being served

Recently I've been getting ads served here that I consider inappropriate for work. It's only this site, and only in the last couple of weeks. I use this site primarily to keep up to date with the Surface for work purposes, and would appreciate not having ads shown that I would feel uncomfortable...

    How's your battery life estimations?

Yes, the algorithm they use to estimate battery life is very poor. Primarily it seems to need to look at a longer sample set and smooth the data a bit more. It seems to respond almost instantly to whatever the load is at the moment. Idle? 10 hours! Catch it during a CPU spike? 2 hours!

    Well, now I am sold

I don't think that they neglected the tablet experience, rather they are trying to make the transition from one to the other less jarring, or more optimized for each specific interface. In some respects, the tablet interface is much more cohesive than it was before where you basically had all...

    Well, now I am sold

Agreed. Many of the changes are, as usual, really just complaints about having to change what one is used to. For example, the quick-switch gesture from the left of the screen on Windows 8.1 was pretty nice, but it was also really only great for switching between two apps. Beyond that it became...

Feature you are really liking is....

When connecting multiple monitors, I can now choose say, 125% for the big monitor, while keeping 150% on the Surface. This gained me a bunch of real estate on my external monitor. Previously you could either have Windows decide for you, or have one scaling factor across all monitors. You also no...

Feature you are really liking is....

Independent scaling for different screens. New touch gestures for Window management. The overall look - Win 8 was beginning to look dated.

    Windows 10...not impressed.

This is one of my favorite things about Win 10 so far. I dock to a 4k monitor - bought because of the state of scaling on 8.1 - and with independent scaling, I've gained a bunch of real estate on that monitor because I can now run 125% on the big monitor, while keeping 150% on the Surface. It's...

Right click in IE not always working as expected

There are certain websites I've encountered that are just not usable with touch/pen only. You have to have a mouse to interact with them. WebEx is a big one.

Surface Pro 3 color gradients on external disply with Intel Graphics Driver

I've heard of this problem frequently before, but it usually seems to be with the Microsoft version of the driver, and the recommended fix is to install the Intel driver. I already use the Intel driver in order to be able to use my 4k monitor, and when I updated to the latest version recently, I...

    Charging while traveling

I would just carry the iPad in addition to the Surface. It does much better with battery life on flights. What's the weight difference of carrying the iPad vs. the Surface plus battery pack? Leave the iPad charging brick home if you must, and charge from the usb port on the Surface's power brick...

    USB to Serial adapter

We use a ton of these at my workplace. I buy them several times a year, 10-20 at a time. For years I have always bought the Hawking HUC-232s and we have never had an issue with them.

Monitor for SP3/Docking Station and MacBook Pro

Well, with the Surface, the best companion monitor is definitely something 4k because it avoids all scaling issues when moving between docked and undocked. I have the Dell p2715q and it's a beautiful screen that matches the Surface's wonderfully. It may be, however, that your Mac won't drive a...

Surface Pro 3 through airport security

If you read the text of the TSA rules, tablet/laptop is not specified, merely a size.

Surface Pro 3 through airport security

The Surface Pro should go through in your bag any way you like as a tablet, but it really depends on the specific person inspecting your bag.

    Improving SSD performance

I'm pretty sure this is it - what I downloaded when available. https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=4594bb0dbbcd361b&id=4594BB0DBBCD361B%219519&action=Share

MicroSD write speeds limited to ~20MB/s

Yes, I see that. I went with the Lexar because I'd heard bad things about the SanDisk, and the reviews for the Samsung were all over the map. I do see now that Amazon bunches all the reviews of all sizes and that most of the reviews for write speeds were on the smaller sizes - although if you...

MicroSD write speeds limited to ~20MB/s

Appreciate all the comments folks. Anyone have benchmarks or screen grabs documenting better speeds from other 128GB cards? Not sure I will bother exchanging this one, but I'd like to know what else is out there.

Large Outlook OST Files in Surface 3 or Pro

I would expect the Surface 3 to be able to handle it, but it will not be nearly as responsive as the Pro model with a true SSD, as it uses much slower eMMC flash memory, which I would expect to be the primary bottleneck. See the bottom of this page for comparison of disk speeds...

MicroSD write speeds limited to ~20MB/s

I purchased a 128GB Lexar 633x card recently http://www.amazon.com/Lexar-High-Performance-MicroSDXC-Reader-LSDMI128BBNL633R/dp/B00O1M21H8/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8 It is supposed to have write speeds on the order of 40MB/s, but under no circumstance am I getting much more than about...
