    Best Miracast/Widi device for SP3?

The Roku will allow you to extend your display to your tv just like any of the other devices. Dailymotion has a channel you can install on the Roku so it should work just fine with no need for adding the Surface to the equation. https://www.rokuchannels.tv/dailymotion/

SP4 may have NO Ports, Zero, None.

I don't think it's particularly negative - just realistic. Wireless signals always end up having configuration and/or interference issues. When the alternative is the simple act of plugging in a cable that works first time, every time, why bother with wireless? Even wifi in the vast majority of...

SP4 may have NO Ports, Zero, None.

I mean realistically the only wireless standard that has come anywhere near to zero configuration is Bluetooth, and that's taken a decade to perfect, and still has more than its share of issues. Now we're supposed to believe that Intel is going to give us wireless with 100x that bandwidth...

    Dell P2715Q on my SP2

Weird, it worked for me when I made the post. I think that server goes down from time to time though. I would bet it will come back online again later. The link is correct.

SP4 may have NO Ports, Zero, None.

I'm far from convinced we'll see no ports on the SP4 or even the SP5. The USB port is still an essential part of the workflow for too many users. I am extremely quick to abandon legacy equipment - even as I manage IT for a business that still operates in part on serial ports and DOS. But the...

    Dell P2715Q on my SP2

This is not true. The SP2 shares the same i5 4300u with 4400 graphics as available in the SP3. With this setup you can run a 4k monitor at 50hz, even two of them if you have the dock. What you need to do is install the Intel driver, which I believe you've already done, but if not...

    Different scaling when docked

Nope. This is a huge issue with Windows which doesn't play well when mixing screens of drastically different pixel density. There are a few basic solutions. - Learn to live with it. You may find something you are happier with by choosing the option to set a single scaling level for all...

    Best Miracast/Widi device for SP3?

The Roku stick and the Roku 3 support Miracast directly and allow you to wirelessly display your SP3 just as the Microsoft device does. The Roku stick just does it cheaper and also gives you all the benefits of a Roku at the same time.

    Best Miracast/Widi device for SP3?

The Roku streaming stick works, is inexpensive, and can double as a media player even without your Surface.

    Best Music Player

Looking at the specs for that device, it doesn't look like its USB connection is designed for connection to a computer like the Surface Pro. It has a usb-a jack for connection to an ipod or usb stick.

    Windows Updates not taking

Ok, that explains that one. I'll have to keep an eye on the other ones to see if it's still happening with other updates. I would expect that after installing that System Hardware Update that it would have borked my custom resolution settings but that continues to work fine.

    Windows Updates not taking

I am using the Intel video driver to get the resolution I need for my 4k screen, if that's what you mean. However that's new in the last 2 weeks and this issue has been ongoing for a couple of months it seems.

    Windows Updates not taking

Thanks. I've been through that with other pc's where I seemed to have an actual problem - like the updates not installing or something- but in this case the updates always install without any errors, and in the short-term it tells me there are no more updates to be installed. It's a few days or...

    Windows Updates not taking

For the last couple of months I've been under the impression that I keep installing some of the same Windows updates over and over. It seems like it is nearly always telling me that there are updates to be installed on the log-in screen. I haven't paid it too much attention because otherwise...

Touch controls on secondary monitor w/SP3 and W10

I'm not certain that I understand your issue entirely, but I will say, that on 8.1, I am having an issue where Windows mis-identifies my monitor order. I can place the monitors in the physical order I want, and everything works, except when I ask it to identify which monitor is which; at that...

Independent monitor scaling, any hope in Windows 10?

Steve, in my experience all of those apps you mention may also exhibit this same behavior. What can make it hard to track is that the behavior is different depending on what monitor (if any) is connected at time of login, which monitor you have set as primary, and which monitor the program opens...

Independent monitor scaling, any hope in Windows 10?

IE elements will scale depending on the dpi of the screen you are on, but text and everything will always stay sharp. The other browsers are disabling that scaling so things so a consistent size, but their content will often be blurred and not sharp.

Would you convert to an iPad Pro and replace your SP3?

You responded to my list of actual things that SP can't do that iOS can as 'user preference.' Sorry. That doesn't get you very far. Especially when the favorite defense here is to point out all the things the iPad can't do that the Surface can.

Would you convert to an iPad Pro and replace your SP3?

Yes, I'm well aware that the one app that nobody actually uses can do this. That's exactly the problem. Oh, and this member of the 'app generation' began computing in 1982...

Would you convert to an iPad Pro and replace your SP3?

If you read my post objectively you'll see I never complained about the performance of Miracast. It's the overall implementation that's clunky. Try to use it to play a video on your tv while you use the Surface as a tablet - no mouse or keyboard attached. The video content plays fine, but you...
